TMZ updated its report, stating that paramedics were called to Lovato's home, where she was found unconscious. The 25-year-old singer was hospitalised on Tuesday afternoon after what is reported to be a case of drug overdose, stated news agency AFP. "To the ones who never left me / We've been down this road before / I'm so sorry, I'm not sober anymore", Lovato sang on her recent single Sober, which features on her latest album Tell Me You Love Me.

It is the same show that Iggy Azalea spoke of with ET earlier this month, when she excitedly revealed that she was opening for Lovato.

Updated at 8:50 p.m. Tuesday: Revised to reflect singer's condition.

"TMZ broke the story ... law enforcement sources involved in the case told us it was an apparent heroin overdose, but the source close to Demi says no. He was not aware that her issues were this severe and intense at this time", the source said.

TMZ first reported that the 25-year-old, who recently admitted she had relapsed after 6 years of sobriety, was transported to an L.A. hospital from her home in the Hollywood Hills a little before noon.

Lovato was scheduled to perform on Thursday in Atlantic City as part of her tour. In the song, she apologized for letting down her family and fans.

According to reports, singer Demi Lovato has been rushed to hospital.

Lovato has always been an open when it comes to her mental health and struggles with substance abuse. We continue to send healing wishes to her during her recovery.

In the past, Lovato has spoken candidly in various interviews about her use of cocaine and addiction to alcohol, as well as her struggle with an eating disorder.

She began her acting career on popular children's series Barney & Friends, before achieving fame on Disney Channel shows and TV movies like Sonny With a Chance and Camp Rock. "But let's be encouraging so she will get the help she needs". "If it weren't for my friends, family, and fans, I wouldn't be here today".
