  • Trio of thieves put shark in baby stroller, roll it out of the San Antonio Aquarium

They used the bucket to transfer the shark into the stroller and "hurried up the stairs and out to the parking lot", it said.

UPDATE: The San Antonio Aquarium provided KENS 5 with a screenshot of this post, where someone is apparently trying to sell the shark.

The incident unfolded on Saturday, when an employee spotted three people near an interactive shark touch pool, the aquarium said on Facebook.

According to the Leon Valley Police Department, a male suspect reached into the tank and removed a gray horn shark from an exhibit.

The shark is back in the tank now, though there are concerns about its continuing health due to the shock of the encounter and its exposure to bleach.

Police were able to track the getaway vehicle to a home where they found the shark and the thieves, with one of them reportedly confessing to the crime. Police Chief Joseph Salvaggio says two others are expected to be charged.

"He had a lot of different marine animals in the home", Mr Salvaggio said.

San Antonio Aquarium general manager Jenny Spellman said an employee noticed what was going on and immediately notified management.

Surveillance video taken at about 2 p.m. captures a man leaning over into the exhibit and emerging with the shark in a net.

"I am so, so happy that we got her back, and she's healthy". Another man is then seen depositing a blanket-wrapped item into a stroller and walking off, accompanied by the first man and a woman carrying a child.

He also revealed how officers initially thought the call "was kind of a hoax being that it was "Shark Week" last week".

Accorind to KENS 5 News, the 1.5-foot predator was a horn shark, which can survive outside of water for two to three hours.

Video of Miss Helen's return to the aquarium showed the staff waiting to greet her, bursting into raucous cheering and clapping when she arrived.
