C-SPANLast week, Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) said he was "very concerned" about Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh's "position on privacy and the Fourth Amendment".

While Manchin has not publicy shared whether or not he will vote in favor of Kavanaugh, Republicans did inch one step closer to a smooth confirmation process Monday when "honestly undecided" Sen. In 2015, Kavanaugh -then a Washington DC Circuit Court Judge- ruled that such data collection does not violate Americans' right to privacy under the Fourth Amendment.

Barrasso said that he was thoroughly impressed with Kavanaugh, and that the meeting was very productive. "I won't make a final decision on the nomination until I complete a thorough and fair examination of his candidacy", the senator wrote, "just as I did with Neil Gorsuch", Trump's first nominee to the high court. The same poll shows a majority of voters in three other states Trump won with Democratic senators, Alabama, Indiana, and North Dakota, also say the Senate should confirm Judge Kavanaugh.

The meeting reportedly was lengthy, two hours or more by some accounts.

"I believe he will carefully adhere to the Constitution and will take his job to protect individual liberty seriously", Paul said in a statement. And on Friday, after negotiations with Democrats failed to produce a consensus on what documents should be sought ahead of a hearing on Kavanaugh's nomination, Grassley went ahead with a request to the Bush library for documents related to his work for the White House. He said he is also not anxious about a flurry of advertising pressuring him to confirm Kavanaugh.

Upon reviewing Kavanaugh's other rulings, Paul apparently warmed to the judge. Manchin is the first Democrat Senator to meet with the judge.

But Paul probably doesn't want to become the object of insanely intense pressure from both sides of the Kavanaugh battle, and particularly from conservatives who view this nomination as a crucial step in the reversal of liberal judicial precedents on issues ranging from economic regulation to voting rights to the big one: abortion. Rand Paul and Democratic Sen.

The Kentucky senator was one of the few Republicans considered possible swing votes on Kavanaugh's confirmation.

He said that many of those documents are irrelevant to Kavanaugh's legal history, and that the nominee would not be able to adequately comment on them.
