Akshay Kumar’s movie strikes Gold with Rs 25.25 crores on Day 1

While Gold has collected about Rs 26 crore at the domestic box office with 3,050 screens, Satyameva Jayate has managed Rs 16-17 crore with 2,500 screens.

The first weekend box office collections of Akshay Kumar starrer Gold and John Abraham starrer Satyameva Jayate ended up in good numbers, as both the movies earned Rs 125 Crore in total.

Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar is once again back in the form with a great start of his recently released film Gold.

"The film has practically doubled its Thursday number on Sunday and has done well to get this far considering the huge 70% fall on Thursday", the Box Office India report added.




Box office collections might actually not be as catastrophic as they are made out be. It also has become the highest opening grosser of Akshay Kumar at the box office.

Satyameva Jayate, directed by Milap Milan Zaveri, has John playing a vigilante who tracks down corrupt officials and kills them.

Noted film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter and shared the figures. The combined collection of the two movies is Rs 125 cr. Subsequently, India won the gold medal on August 12, 1948. His satirical comedy Toilet: Ek Prem Katha released this time past year had made Rs 11.34 crore on its opening day and Rs. 132.07 crore in lifetime box office collections. The movie features John Abraham, Manoj Bajpayee, Amruta Khanvilkar and Aisha Sharma in lead roles.

Reema Kagti's Gold had a strong opening day and managed to clock around Rs 25.25 crore at the box office.
