Chelsea meet Lyon on Tuesday at Stamford Bridge in their final pre-season warm up match before the start of the Premier League season where they face Huddersfield away in their opening match on Saturday.

With Real Madrid circling, Chelsea keeper skipped training, despite new Blues boss Maurizio Sarri announcing on Sunday he wanted showdown talks with his wantaway star.

Sarri has already admitted he would not stand in Courtois" way if he wants to leave, adding he only wants players with "high levels of motivation'.

After falling to Manchester City in the Community Shield on Sunday at Wembley Stadium, Chelsea is reeling.

"But I have my head here and I intend to continue in the club unless the club wants to sell me".

Chelsea have reportedly made Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland their top transfer target if Thibaut Coutois leaves the club.

Chelsea winger Eden Hazard has also been linked with Real, but did attend training with the Blues on Monday.

Courtois, 26, has a year remaining on his contract and has been repeatedly linked with a move to Real Madrid.

In fact, on Monday afternoon a SPAR supermarket in Tenerife claim they have found the AWOL Courtois in their shop as the new season approaches.

Manchester City won the game 2-0.

"I've always made it very clear that I've always been very happy playing for Chelsea".

"There is no doubt we have to work hard to improve quickly", states Sarri, who has conducted his press briefings in English so far, despite his limited grasp of the language. "The people know we have a lot of competitions to play".

Moving to The Mirror it is reported that West Ham are hoping Luka Modric can aid them in their pursuit of Danny Drinkwater.

The Cherries have agreed a fee understood to be £25million with Spanish club Levante for the 23-year-old.
