Courtois's agent, Christophe Henrotay, has said the player wants to move to Real Madrid to be closer to his daughter, who lives in Spain.

"Courtois is the goalkeeper of the club, I don't know in the future, it depends on the club, and especially on him I think".

"It was a very positive conversation and I am very happy about it".

"Contractually he's a Chelsea player, but he's another who had a fantastic World Cup and could play for any team in the world".

Eden Hazard has sought permission from Maurizio Sarri to report for duty at Chelsea a day later than scheduled.

Chelsea looked weak and ill at ease and Sarri said he would rather continue working with them on the training pitch than play the friendly against Lyon on Tuesday.

"I spoke to him yesterday about [being late]", Sarri told a news conference ahead of Sunday's Community Shield game against Manchester City.

However, the former Napoli manager was quoted by Sky Sports saying that one more signing will do the job.

Chelsea were outplayed for much of the contest and Sarri says his side have a lot of ground to make up on the defending Premier League champions.

"Yes, we were close but in the end Jorginho made a decision to stay with Sarri", he said. He is, however, expected to be fit by the time the Blues' 2018/19 Premier League season opener comes around. Toby is a great boy and an excellent footballer, and I think he's one of those boys that whoever he plays for, he will be focused and will give everything he's got.

"We have very good midfielders, but maybe a midfielder with different characteristics [would be a good fit]".
