  • Elon Musk renews 'pedo' controversy, asks if it's 'strange' the British diver hasn't sued

But earlier this week, Musk, baited by some other Twitter users, brought the subject back up, declaring it "strange" that Unsworth never sued him.

Musk responded by calling Unsworth a "pedo guy", later tweeting: "Bet ya a signed dollar it's true".

The letter contradicts a claim Mr Musk made on Twitter as recently as August 29 that Mr Unsworth had yet to begin proceedings against him.

The US Securities and Exchange Commission is now reported to be investigating the matter, and some Tesla investors are suing the firm over the tweets.

In July, Unsworth told the Guardian he was considering taking legal against Musk.

Tech billionaire Elon Musk stoked controversy once again on Tuesday, after he questioned whether it was "strange" that the British diver he appeared to accuse last month of being a pedophile still has not sued him.

Musk's freakish allegation came after Unsworth accused Musk of using the Thai cave rescue ordeal to stage a publicity stunt.

Times Finance Editor David Enrich, meanwhile, said on the social media site that the paper stands by its description of Musk's emotions during the interview. More specifically, you published through three different tweets to your twenty-two million followers that Mr. Unsworth engages in the sexual exploitation of Thai children, and you did so at a time when he was working to save the lives of twelve Thai children. "You published through three different tweets to your twenty-two million followers that Mr. Unsworth engages in the sexual exploitation of Thai children, and you did so at a time when he was working to save the lives of twelve Thai children", wrote Unsworth's lawyer L. Lin Wood, an Atlanta-based defamation expert, in a letter dated August 6, BuzzFeed reported. "You did so without any basis".

Musk was responding to a Forbes article shared on Twitter and written by Amy Nelson, the founder and CEO of workspace company The Riveter.

"Your dedication to facts and truth would have been wonderful if applied to that time when you called someone a pedo", posted Drew Olanoff.

Mr Musk also sought to lend a hand and travelled to the cave with a mini-submarine he said the boys could use to escape.

Subsequently, Unsworth said he might sue - and Musk apologized. Musk said on Friday that Tesla would remain public, but said he believed there was "more than enough funding" to take the company private.
