News broke on Wednesday morning that Urban Meyer is alleged to have known about an incident of domestic abuse involving his wide receiver coach Zach Smith back when they occurred in 2015.

The reason it affects Meyer is because Courtney Smith, the ex-wife, claims she told Meyer's wife Shelley about what was happening and that Meyer would be informe as well.

Offensive coordinator Ryan Day will serve as acting head coach for the Buckeyes, expected to be one of the top teams in the nation again this season. If we're to believe what Urban Meyer said last week, his wife kept quiet about the whole affair, not even bothering to mention at the dinner table, "Hey, you've got an assistant coach who might have a problem".

"That's at another program that I'm not going to comment on", said Herman when asked if he had discussed the Ohio State situation with the two.

I don't know, but I can not imagine with what Urban Meyer said last week at Big Ten media days and the fact that he hasn't said anything yet, that he is going to be able to have anything more to say in terms of this football season. He said he didn't know of any incident in 2015 but that the Ohio State staff did its own investigation and found no basis for the allegation. He was one of my coaches when I played. The deal runs through 2022 and increases Meyer's salary to $7.6 million in 2018, with annual 6 percent raises for the bulk of his compensation.

Paterno wrote his post before Meyer was put on leave by Ohio State.

At the Big Ten Media Days in Chicago last week, Urban said he knew about the domestic violence allegations against Zach in 2009 but not 2015.

Smith was sacked July 23 after reports surfaced that his ex-wife filed an order of protection against him.

Meyer is out of the frying pan and now we'll see if he goes into the fryer, as his Ohio State future is very much in doubt. The Smiths separated in June 2015 and divorced in 2016. Those messages include pictures of a bruised Courtney Smith. "I know nothing about it". "I'm not sure where that comes up".
