"Captain Marvel" will lead the cover of the next issue of Entertainment Weekly, which will include an exclusive first look at the intergalactic hero. Rest easy, Carol Danvers fans... we've been served a look at Larson in the red and blue suit. The heroine was given extra-dimensional powers when she tried to keep a weapon from being created, and Monica became a hero who operated under the name Captain Marvel.

They'll join Carol Danvers, the military pilot who wages a crucial battle within - between her human and superpowered Kree traits. "This is not a superhero who's ideal or otherworldly or has some godlike connection", she told EW; Larson's quotes also emphasize that Captain Marvel "can be a little invasive and in your face". And she's got a formidable enemy in the form of the Skrulls - the notorious Marvel baddies made all the more unsafe by their shape-shifting abilities. According to Law, his character sees her as a kind of special project, an extraordinary individual he must guide as she learns both her role in the Starforce and how to use her powers. Skrulls are a formidable enemy shapeshifting alien race in the Marvel comics and this is the first time they have popped up in the MCU.

The comic book and movie powerhouse has released 10 pictures to EW in the USA, which includes glimpses of Larson as the Marvel Cinematic Universe's strongest superhero, Jude Law as her mentor Mar-Vell, Ben Mendelsohn as the villainous Talos and a two-eyed, de-aged Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury. She's amusing, but doesn't always tell good jokes.

The film's Starforce adds Lee Pace as warlord Ronan the Accuser, reprising his role from 2014's "Guardians of the Galaxy".

Captain Marvel is slated to release March 8, 2019 worldwide.

An earlier photo of Larson in costume from the Captain Marvel set was released a few months ago featured only the green, black and silver costume.
