Earl Thomas Reports To Seahawks, Will Play Out Final Year Of Contract

"I worked my whole life for this...."

Thomas published an article on The Player's Tribune last month titled, "Here's What's Actually Going On", in which he issued the team an ultimatum: pay me, or trade me.

"With that being said, the disrespect has been well noted and will not be forgotten", Thomas wrote after indicating he wouldn't let his teammates down this weekend. But he is apparently reporting nonetheless, the latest step in a story that began past year when he began making rumblings of wanting a new contract, and a story that likely has many more chapters to come.

The Seahawks are not in negotiations with Thomas, and there has been nothing to indicate that they are interested in giving him an extension while his current deal has a season remaining.

NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport said Wednesday that Thomas will play out the final year of his deal in Seattle and that the Seahawks agreed to wipe out nearly all of his fines for not showing up to training camp.

As the standoff in Seattle continues, Earl Thomas is not expected to play week one.

Thomas doesn't likely want to sit out all season, and he nearly undoubtedly wouldn't, but the Seahawks have until the NFL's trade deadline to continue fining him and collecting the money from all of the games and practices he's skipping.

The Cowboys visit Thomas and the Seahawks in Seattle in Week 3.

A short time later, Thomas announced on Instagram that he would report to the Seahawks today. The Seahawks wanted more. Chancellor missed the first two games before reporting. That was different from the simple "no" Carroll had offered several other times in recent weeks when asked about any new contact with Thomas.
