Olivia Newton-John diagnosed with cancer for third time

Olivia rose to fame in 1978 hit musical Grease, which she starred in alongside John Travolta, 64.

The cancer news emerges on the eve of the release of her memoir Don't Stop Believin', in which she opens up about her latest health crisis.

Olivia Newton-John has revealed she has cancer for a third time - on this occasion at the base of her spine.

The Grease star gave an extended interview on Australia's Sunday Night program in which she revealed another tumor was found past year after it seemed she was in remission.

"I'd be lying if it said I never go there, there are moments, I'm human", she explains.

The singer, who will be turning 70 in a few weeks, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1992.

Sir Barry said: "I'm very, very sad to hear about it (the cancer returning) again, what we all thought she had defeated is still there".

Unlike the first time, Olivia chose to keep this cancer discovery secret.

"I thought, "it's my life", and I just made a decision to keep it to myself", she explained in the interview.

In the emotional interview on Sunday Night, she said: "I'm one of millions in this fight".

In 2013, after her breast cancer returned, she was treated with conventional medicines and natural therapies to boost her immune system. I see as part of my mission. "I live in this handsome place", Olivia is a fighter and remains incredibly positive about her fate.

Speaking about cannabis oil, Olivia said she's "lucky" she lives in California, a state where it's legal to grow a certain amount of cannabis for medicinal purposes. "It's hard to say - they help with pain", Newton-John noted. "I'm still treating it and I'm treating it naturally", she said on Sunday. I have an incredible career.

Olivia's husband of ten years, John Easterling, is founder of the Amazon Herb Company, and grows cannabis for her at their ranch in Santa Barbara, California. "I'm doing really well".
