Twitter Permanently Bans Far-Right Conspiracy Theorist Alex Jones

Twitter permanently banned the accounts of Alex Jones and Infowars from the platform on Thursday after Jones aggressively confronted a CNN reporter yesterday who led the push for social media companies to ban Jones from their platforms. Jones had a "heated exchange" with a reporter, and made a decision to stream it on Twitter.
The company said Jones would not be able to create new accounts on Twitter or take over any existing ones after posting a video on Wednesday that violates the company's policy against "abusive behavior". That video showed Jones berating CNN journalist Oliver Darcy for some 10 minutes in between two congressional hearings on social media.
Infowars and Jones' accounts were also banned from Periscope, which is owned by Twitter. At the time, CEO Jack Dorsey said that Jones hadn't violated Twitter's policies but that the company would continue to monitor him and take action if he did so.
Jones is now being sued in Texas by two Sandy Hook parents, seeking at least $1 million (£0.77 million), claiming that they have been the subject of harassment driven by his programs. "I'm asking you not to touch me again", Rubio said. Of course, this also comes after Jones crashed Dorsey's visit to Congress, accusing him and other tech leaders of being biased against conservatives. "Glad Twitter is taking steps to put an end to the abusive behavior from Alex Jones & Infowars", the tweet stated. Marco Rubio got into a back-and-forth Wednesday with far-right conspiracy theorist Alex Jones in a Capitol Hill hallway.
Later, he found Darcy outside a room where Dorsey was to appear before the House Energy and Commerce Committee.
He criticised the journalist's reporting and appearance, referencing his "skinny jeans" and repeatedly saying, "just look at this guy's eyes" and "look at that smile". I still find the man's actions and dedication to making sure that Twitter is a "public square" where anyone can speak to be a bit shortsighted, as too often those defending themselves from harassment get banned while their harassers go free.
