It’s only been one fight, but there was a signature moment in the union of the boxer Timothy Bradley and his trainer Teddy Atlas, and it was a speech during the last fight against Brandon Rios.
Sensing Bradley needed a spark, Atlas delivered a speech about being firemen unafraid of going into the fire.
It’s a clip that has been making its way around the internet.
During training camp, Bradley and Atlas were paid a visit from Josh Alvarez and Efrain Vargas, who work at the Morongo Fire Department. They presented Bradley with a fire helmet with “Desert Storm #1 Bradley” on it.
Bradley was touched and joked if the helmet was big enough for his head.
“I hope you made it extra large man, because my head is huge,” joked Bradley as he put on the helmet. “Saddle up baby.”
Bradley continued joking as he and Atlas posted for pictures, leading to the welterweight champion to imitate the speech.
“That there was the motivational speech of the year,” Bradley said.
After taking pictures with Alvarez and Vargas, Atlas shaked their hands.
“Thank you for everything you do,” Atlas said.
