For me, Friday will be the lighter of the three days as far as acts I want to see, but there are strong groups I do want to see.
Leading the list will be Of Monsters and Men, who really blew my mind the first time I saw them in 2013. They have a rich sound if you like folk and pop.
“Little Talks” is my favorite from them.
Then there’s Ellie Goulding, a pop princess who is developing a huge following.
She’s been coming out with several monster hits and had a great performance in 2014. It should be another strong show.
One act I missed in 2013 is Robert Delong, as I was a huge fan of his song “Global Concepts.” This year, he will likely be the first act I catch, which has traditionally been a big spot for me in my Coachella experiences. The first bands I’ve seen in the past have been great, and included The Hives, Amy Winehouse, Cage the Elephant, Metric and Haerts.
Here’s “Global Concepts,” with the line “or did I make you fucking dance.”
The first of the headliners is LCD Soundsystem, who I like, but I have to admit I don’t have a deep knowledge of their catalog, but usually like their songs when I hear it on XM.
And here’s their tribute to the kind of girls I like best, those use usually lose their inhibition and lower their standards.
Foals is one of those bands I’ve been hearing about for a long time, but I don’t know much about them. I’m looking forward to catching them.
I’m not sure why I haven’t caught M83 yet. They’ve been one of the top bands lately.
Purity Ring is a favorite among my friends. They will be the midnight show, so that should be fun.
