Many of the Coachella acts perform throughout the west in between weekends, which has become an event on its own.
But one thing that should be a bigger part of the Goldenvoice promotion should be Jimmy Kimmel Live and The Late Late Show with James Corden.
Because The Tonight Show has moved to New York since Jimmy Fallon took over for Jay Leno, they are the only late night shows in Southern California.
It will be a great way to showcase how great the lineups are at Coachella, and maybe be even more of an incentive for groups to come out to Southern California in April because of the exposure.
And I hope they would be more aggressive in booking Coachella acts.
Already this year, Corden had The Last Shadow Puppets perform.
On Wednesday night, Of Monsters and Men will perform on Jimmy Kimmel on April 20, and M83 will be on April 21.
Next week, Corden is scheduled to have Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats on April 25, and Ice Cube on April 26, although I’m not sure if Cube is performing or just promoting the latest “Barbershop” movie.
But I hope the late night shows and Coachella will work together to get more acts on television.
I do think having Guns N Roses on Kimmel would have been a great idea, maybe blocking off Hollywood Boulevard like they did for Van Halen last year.
A few years ago, Kimmel had several more. I was able to catch The Hives in 2012.
If you go to 1iota.com, you can find tickets for both shows and a schedule of guests. Having been to Kimmel several times, it’s been a great experience, as the bands usually perform a few more songs other than what they present on television. And being on Hollywood Blvd., there’s a lot of fun things to do before and after.
